How to become a notified body

To become a notified body, you must first apply for and obtain an accreditation decision for notification purposes. The accreditation is linked to a specific EU legal act, either a directive or a regulation.

What does the role involve?

For each legal act, there are different activities you can carry out to assess whether products meet the requirements. The combination of legal act and activity determines your role – for example, as a certification body, an inspection body or a laboratory.
