The programmes are financed by Sida under the authorities international training programmes, ITP. The aim is to strengthen the institutional and capacity development in low- and middle income countries.
Between 1999 and 2015, Swedac has conducted 70 international training programmes with 1 750 participants from 90 countries.
The “Quality Infrastructure Development in Support of World Trade” programme is based on the knowledge to manage and in practice, work with national quality infrastructure systems, with specific focus on the WTO TBT Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade, and information on how the national framework for international trade and quality infrastructure can be developed in the participating countries.
The “Quality Infrastructure for Food Safety” programme is based on the programme of managing and, in practice, working with new principles and requirements for food safety, and also international trade in food and agricultural products of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, and the national framework for how international trade and quality infrastructure can be developed in the participating countries.
The programmes are divided into five phases, of which phase two consists of four weeks of training in Stockholm and in Borås or in Uppsala. The complete duration of the programmes is 14 months.
