Swedac is a government authority. The Director General alone is responsible for the authority’s operations.

This management form is intended to meet the government’s need for a strong and more direct guidance of the authority and to speed up the implementation of political decisions.

An advisory council sits alongside the Director General. The advisory council meets the requirements for democratic transparency and citizen influence.

Swedac has approximately 120 employees. The majority are at the head office in Borås.

Following the government’s decision in early 2018 on the discontinuation of the Stockholm office, a gradual reduction of staff will happen, to close completely in April 2019.
