Batteries

Batteries are central to the effort to phase out fossil fuels and to the EU’s transition to zero-emission transport.

All batteries, including waste portable batteries, vehicle batteries, industrial batteries, starter batteries mainly used in vehicles and machinery, as well as batteries for light means of transport such as electric bicycles and electric scooters, must be safe, durable, and competitive throughout their entire lifecycle, from production to reuse and recycling.

Swedac accredits notified bodies that carry out conformity assessments in accordance with the EU Regulation on batteries and waste batteries.
